Seat to be filled following the resignation of Cllr Daryl Turner
Notice has been given of a town councillor vacancy in Lyme Regis following the resignation of Cllr Daryl Turner.
He stood down at the annual meeting on May 24, but remains a district and county councillor for the town.
In his resignation to the mayor, Cllr Michaela Ellis, he said: “After much thought and regret, I must offer my resignation as a member of Lyme Regis Town Council.
“Following my re-election to Dorset County Council and having a Cabinet position, I believe there will be numerous conflicts of interest and a very large workload, which means I cannot effectively continue on the town council.”
He added: “I believe I leave the council in a good place and will of course be available to help as Lyme’s district and county councillor.”
Accepting Cllr Turner’s resignation, Cllr Ellis thanked him for his time on the town council and congratulated him on his appointment to the WDDC Cabinet.
Now the district council has given notice of a town councillor vacancy in Lyme Regis.
If by June 15 a request for an election to fill the vacancy is made in writing to the returning officer by 10 Lyme Regis electors, an election will be held no later than August 18.
Please contact the town council at firstname.lastname@example.org or 01297 445175 for more information about requesting an election or becoming a local councillor.
