Driver calls the local fire crew after his engine catches alight

Firefighters from Axminster were mobilised at around 10am this morning (Friday, August 19) after a delivery van driver called to say his vehicle was on fire in Hunthay Lane.

Shortly after arriving the crew confirmed the fire was in the engine compartment and extinguished it with a hose reel jet and small tools.

Fire extinguishers, from the farm where the van had parked up, were also used prior to their arrival.

Once extinguished duty of care was left with the driver, awaiting recovery.

The engine compartment was severely damaged and the fire started accidentally. No one was injured.
