HONITON Library, together with Allhallows Museum and the Thelma Hulbert Gallery, is collating information about books enjoyed by people in local public life to celebrate the National Year of Reading.

HONITON Library, together with Allhallows Museum and the Thelma Hulbert Gallery, is collating information about books enjoyed by people in local public life - to celebrate the National Year of Reading.Herald editor Belinda Bennett has contributed to the project by explaining why world famous author John Hollands' fictional memoirs of his years at Blundell's School, Tiverton, are her favourite 'read', even though she is a devotee of work by Beryl Bainbridge and Julie Birchill.What A Fag made her laugh out loud and, through the peculiar catchphrase of a former master, taught her that vanity is a sin - "Vanity of vanities, all is vanity".Mr Hollands, who aspired to be a novelist while still studying at Blundell's, is also author of The Dead, The Dying and The Damned, which depicts moments from the Korean War and was made into an epic film.Frances Lemmer at the library is collecting information about people's favourite books for an event later in the year.
