Variety of fish landed at Seaton Carnival angling contest

Dave Shore wins the prize for the best single specimen with a 3lbs 15.5oz mullet

Thirty-four anglers took part in the Seaton Carnival shore fishing competition which was run by Mike Spiller and Honiton Sea Angling Club.

Catches during the four- hour match included mullet, bass, dogfish, pollack, garfish, mackerel, scad, pout, smoothound, gurnard, plaice, wrasse and bullhuss.

The winner of the contest, with the best two fish of different species, was Simon Bowditch who weighed in a scad and garfish for 135 per cent. Second was Terry Hartnell who recorded a mullet and bass for 128 per cent and third spot went to Dan Butt with a doggie and pouting.

The prize for the best single fish went to Dave Shore, from Bristol, who had a mullet of 3lb 15.5oz.
