Cycling enthusiasts are getting into gear for one of the area’s biggest events on two wheels – the Seaton Cycle Fest this weekend.

Saturday sees the Velo Vintage Occasion and Ride, which is being hosted by Seaton for the second year running. Around 150 amateur cyclists dressed in vintage clothing will pedal decorated bicycles, including penny-farthings and tandems, along a leisurely and scenic nine-mile route. The ride finishes with a picnic and live music at Cliff Field Gardens, and money from ticket sales will go to Headway Devon.

On Sunday, the serious riders take to the saddle. Two hundred will compete in a series of races on a 1.2km circuit, with tight technical corners and long straights. In past years this event has attracted some of the best riders in the country.

The Cycle Fest attracts plenty of spectators and is becoming a ‘destination’ event, with many visitors coming to Seaton for the whole weekend.
