Talented Grammar School team narrowly miss out at national mock trial finals
THE verdict went against students from Colyton Grammar School when they took their case to court.
The youngsters were representing the south of England in the national final of the magistrates’ court mock trial competition in Birmingham.
Their team of four lawyers, four witnesses, three magistrates, a legal advisor, an usher and two reserves had previously won the local heat at Exeter and then the regional heat in Southampton.
They were one of just 13 schools out of 429 in the country chosen for the finals.
Unfortunately, despite an excellent performance, the Colyton team did not end in the top or runner-up spots.
But teacher Justine Solomon said It was still an incredibly enjoyable day.
The winning school was King Edward VI, Handsworth.
