The event’s secretary, Marcelle Connor, said: “It went fantastically well. We were very fortunate with the weather.”

Mrs Connor said visitor numbers were “well up on last year”.

The show also attracted an increase in trade stands and more entries in the sheep and alpaca classes.

The Bolddog Lings motrcycle display team was a main attraction in the Underdown Ring. The team’s performance at the show was supported by the Midweek Herald.

There was a touch of drama when the fire brigade was called to the showground to put out a generator fire.
