The Royal Voluntary Service urgently needs more helpers to deliver books to the housebound in the Colyton and Seaton areas.

The organisation is working with Devon Libraries to try to improve the lives of people who can no longer get out to collect reading material or CDs.

A spokesman said it was a vital service which keeps the passion of reading alive and makes a huge difference to their clients’ lives.

She said: “In Seaton, Colyton and the surrounding area we need more volunteers to help us make life more interesting for others.

“They will need to be willing to drive in the local area for which we reimburse them 45p per mile.

“We also particularly need people to act as volunteer coordinators at Seaton and Colyton libraries.

“For this role people need just the same interests and friendly, outgoing personality, plus being a good organiser with some basic computer skills.”
