The late Douglas Barker is believed to have died in Honiton in the 1950s, after surviving a period as a prisoner of war in Singapore.
Before being captured, Mr Barker was based with colleague and friend Arnold Kerridge at Ipoh, Singapore.
Now 92, Mr Kerridge would like to find out more about what happened to his friend.
"I am most anxious to get in touch with any of Douglas's surviving relatives," he said.
