Police warning issued following a theft of cash from a local shop.

Shop owners in Honiton are being urged to be on their guard following a theft in the town.

The incident occurred on Monday, November 18, between 4.40pm and 4.45pm.

Police say an offender entered a store in High Street and said he had come to collect items for a ‘Mrs Sullivan’.

The assistant went into the rear of the shop, but was unable to find the order, and the man said he would leave and return in five minutes.

It was then discovered that cash was missing.

The man is described as white, aged 35 to 40, around 5ft 8/9” tall and of slight build with a smooth-skinned face.

PCSO Steve Mingo said: “Shops in the area are asked to be aware of this incident and advise your staff accordingly. Anybody with any information that may assist police with their enquiries is urged to contact 101 quoting KH/13/919.”
