Only auction staged as organising committee tells people to stay away - unless they are attending the auction.

Challenging conditions forced the organisers of Honiton Hill Rally to cancel all but an auction today, the second day of the annual bank holiday event.

Wet conditions turned the field at Stockland into a bog, forcing the event’s committee to reassess the practicalities of continuing.

A statement said: “Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but we hope everyone understands that, due to adverse weather conditions, it has become impossible to hold a safe and enjoyable rally this year.”

Those who attended yesterday (Sunday) made the most of the attractions, wading through mud.
