Honiton’s popular duck race has been postponed after the weekend washout forced organisers to pull the plug on the event.

The annual race is a key fundraiser for Honiton and District Lions Club.

Around 3,000 ducks were set to slalom their way down the River Otter on Sunday - but now the race is being held tomorrow (Thursday).

David Rickard, Honiton Lion, said: “Due to the inclement weather, we are very sorry that the race had to be postponed.

“We hope people will be able to come along and support us on Thursday.”

The race will start outside the Otter Inn in Weston at 6.30pm.

There will be no stalls set up at the re-scheduled event.

All money from race ticket sales will go into the local community and regional charities.

This year, the Lions are supporting Honiton Admiral Nurse Appeal and local youth causes.
