A fundraising campaign set up by a Honiton woman to send a terminally-ill mum-of-one on holiday has surpassed its goal.

Honiton resident Hannah Chesterfield started a fundraising page in March and was helped by friends and supporters of Naomi’s work.

Together, they raised £3,000 to send Naomi, her husband Graham and five-year-old son Devon to Disneyland later this year.

Sidmouth-born Naomi was told she had an incurable tumour on her spine days after Devon’s birth.

Following the diagnosis, she set up the Wedding Wishing Well Foundation to help other cancer sufferers tie the knot.

Hannah said: “I’ve been overwhelmed by people’s generosity and would like to thank everyone that has taken the time to donate to such a fantastic cause. One anonymous individual donated a staggering £1,000, which was absolutely fantastic. I cannot thank everyone enough as I know it will mean the world to Naomi, Graham and Devon as they’ll be able to create lifelong, lasting memories for them to all cherish.”

Naomi added: “We are utterly thrilled that we are going to be able to go to Disney.

“It still amazes me that people who don’t even know us will happily put their hand in their pockets, especially when money is still very tight for many.

“Devon is so excited and I just can’t wait to see his face when he sees it all.

“It will also be lovely to spend two weeks away from emails and phone calls and have some quality family time making once-in-a-life time memories.”
