Seaton pair cross the London Marathon finish line together to raise £2,300 for The Donkey Sanctuary

Two Seaton hairdressers completed the London Marathon without a whisker between them – and raised £2,300 for the local donkey sanctuary.

Adele Foxwell and Sue Campbell crossed the finish line together in a time of 4hrs 12mins 50secs - placing them well up the ranks in a position of 14,680.

Adele, a veteran of many tough races including the Seaton Grizzly, survived the course despite a fall at mile six, spurred on by the thought of her three sons waiting for her at the finish line.

She said: “It was such a brilliant day and we are so proud. It’s something we’ve always wanted to do. We were both elated to cross the finish line in such a great time together!”

She added: “We’re glad we were able to help The Donkey Sanctuary because they’re a local charity and they help local children as well as worldwide so they deserve our support.”

Dawn Vincent from The Donkey Sanctuary said: “What a brilliant time and what a fantastic achievement! We’re really grateful to people like Adele and Sue who put in so much time and effort to raise money for the Sanctuary. We also thank their friends, family and local businesses for getting behind their quest to raise funds for our cause.

“Their hard work means so much to us. It is what helps fund our work helping donkeys and mules in 27 countries worldwide.”
