WHITFORD Scarecrow Festival will be displaying the stars and stripes as it takes on a United States theme this year.

The USA comes to Whitford will take place on August 8 and 9, and is expected to host over 100 scarecrows dressed with a Stateside connection.

There will be live music, performances by Fire and Ice Majorettes, an open-air market and displays of classic American cars.

Two Americans from Denver, Colorado are also expected to visit and offer advice and support over the weekend.

The event runs from 10am to 5pm on both days. Refreshments will be available from 'The Diner' at Annie Croakley's Saloon, which has a licensed bar.

The festival is free, but visitors can make a 1 donation for the trail sheet - which will guide them around the area and includes a competition with prizes.

Parking is free except Saturday afternoon, when there will be a small charge to include admission to the produce association annual flower show.
