Last week saw the first auction of the year take place for Whittons Auctioneers and Valuers.

Owners Edward and Maria Whitton said they were ‘delighted’ with the turnout.

Despite a shaky start on the first auction sale after the internet went down across the South West, the rest of the week proved a success. The biggest sale of the week was a model traction engine which was snapped up for £15,000.

Mr Whitton said: “I was expecting the train to do OK – that’s why we left that lot till the end. But I didn’t expect it to do that well.”

Auctions are held every two weeks on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
