AS at least three new businesses prepare to open in Honiton, the Herald asked shop owner Sarah Roche why she chose to expand to the town during a recession.
Sarah owns classic clothing store Zeebra, which opened in High Street just four weeks ago.
"There were a couple of reasons," she said.
"It is a market town, and I like market towns.
"Honiton has so many independent shops; it's got one of the highest proportions of independents in East Devon."
Convenience was another reason for Sarah's choice.
She said: "I've got another shop in Exmouth and live in Sidmouth, so Honiton is convenient.
"But, above all, Honiton is such a pleasant town.
