Honiton Evening WI’s longest serving member has been given a special centenary badge, recognising her commitment to the group.

Joyce Cooper, who has been a member for more than 40 years, was presented with the badge at the group’s latest meeting.

The WI group itself has been going for 92 years.

Members also indulged in some green-fingered fun when Deborah Chapman, one of their members, helped everyone create their own arrangement in a wine glass.

They had taken small flowers to add colour to their displays and to share with the three visitors who had arrived unprepared for the evening’s activity.

Deborah had the task of selecting the three best finished arrangements, which she said had been very difficult due to the high standard.

Forthcoming events were discussed which included a Hot Cross Bun tea at a member’s house, a walk to Combe Raleigh Church and back to Honiton for lunch, and two invitations from Feniton and Buckerell WI to attend a soup lunch and their open meeting in April.
