COLYTON businesses got into the carnival spirit by dressing up their shop windows in the run up to the grand procession.

COLYTON businesses got into the carnival spirit by dressing up their shop windows in the run up to the grand procession.For many, carnival is an annual event which helps to bring the community together.Wilkies store and the pharmacy shared first prize for their display.Wilkies store manager Carley Way felt the decorations helped people get in the mood for carnival.She said: "It's been a good week. It was nice to see everyone join in."Shop assistant Kim Headly added: "It took a day to put the display up, but about five days to prepare it all in all. We haven't done it before but thought we would put in for it to get into the spirit of carnival." Brainwave volunteer Dainne Pemberton said they had started to save items for their shop window display a year ago.She said: "I think it's a support to Colyton itself and a thank you to people who donate to us all the time.
