Here in Colyford, Devon County Council proposes to take the cycle route on-road, through the lower end of the village and along Cownhayne Lane which regularly floods.
Yes, for those familiar with the A3052, that means the twisty, undulating section with the narrow River Coly bridge and over the Seaton Tramway.
A traffic priority system is planned. Will it work and, most importantly, will it be safe? We all know traffic, pedestrians and cyclists do not mix. Local residents have recently put yet another alternative route to the council and Sustrans to avoid these problems. We just hope they give it full consideration.
