Will Seaton ever be improved?
Nearly 40 years ago, a feasibility study into the development of the Axe estuary, harbour and marshes was published.
Nearly 40 years ago, a feasibility study into the development of the Axe estuary, harbour and marshes was published.
Proposals included dredging areas of the marshes to form a boating lake with islands.
Permanent housing and high class holiday homes would be built around lagoons.
There would be a freshwater fishing lake, a restaurant at the river mouth, improved access for sea-going craft and a new sailing club.
It all seemed a great idea at the time. Nothing ever came of it, of course.
Will our successors have to make the same confession in 40 years' time about the lack of progress in regenerating Seaton?
