ANYONE who borrows a book written by Anne Perry from Honiton Library this month could win a signed copy of her new novel, Execution Dock.Anne is the library's author of the month and supporters will be entered into a prize draw.A popular author with readers across libraries in Devon, Anne's new book set in 1864, is the latest in a series to feature Inspector William Monk.The accomplished writer started her publishing career in 1979 with The Cater Street Hangman, the first book in a series to feature Victorian policeman Thomas Pitt and his wife, Charlotte.In 1990, Anne started a second series of detective novels with The Face of a Stranger. These are set about 50 years earlier and feature private detective William Monk and volatile nurse Hester Latterly.None of Anne's books has ever been out of print, and they have received critical acclaim and huge popular success. Around 25 million copies of her books are in print worldwide.The author will be visiting Honiton Library to give a talk in September.Councillor Sheila Hobden, of Devon County Council, said: "Devon's libraries arrange all sorts of events and competitions and it is a fantastic compliment when a famous author donates a prize and is kind enough to come along and give a talk.
