Children in East Devon can battle it out to win the first ever Co-operative Small Schools title.

CHILDREN in East Devon can put their football skills to the test and win the chance to appear on the field at St James’ Park.

The competition being launched by Exeter City Football Club and The Co-operative will see teams from across Devon compete for the first ever Co-operative Small Schools title.

The winners from East Devon and Mid Devon will battle it out for the chance to appear at the Exeter City ground during half time when the club takes on Dagenham and Redbridge.

Schools are invited to enter teams of eight players, including at least two girls, to play in the local heats.

Finalists will enjoy professional treatment ahead of the game with full kit and kit bags supplied by Exeter City Football Club.

Official medals and certificates will also be presented to the winners and runners up.

To be eligible schools must have 120 pupils or less who are under nine years old on September 1, 2011.

Schools may enter children from the age of seven years old and upwards.

It is being launched to give rural schools the opportunity to focus on football and compete at a regional level.
