Lifeboat and rescue helicopter sent to the scene

Rescue services were scrambled after a windsurfer injured his head at Charmouth yesterday afternoon (Thursday).

The casualty had split his nose and was described as possibly going into shock.

The lifeboat and coastguard team from Lyme Regis were sent to the scene along with the Portland-based coastguard rescue helicopter.

The man was assessed by South West Ambulance paramedics on the beach and taken to Dorchester County Hospital by ambulance. The extent of his injuries has not been disclosed.
