A new season with new hopes and expectations gets under way at Wiscombe Park later this month (April 23 and 24), with a two-day meeting supported by the Midweek Herald.
On-track action revolves around competitors racing against the clock on one of, if not the most, technically testing hill climb course in the country. The events boast large entries from drivers contesting South West and southern regional championships in addition to classes specifically for Mini enthusiasts as well as Morgan (Saturday) and Triumph TR (Sunday) sports cars. Such an entry promises a number of close battles throughout the classes, which include categories for both road-going and modified saloons and sports cars in addition to sports racers and, of course, single-seater racing cars. As usual, the focus will be on the latter division when it comes to the battle for the prestigious and coveted Fastest Time of the Day award.
In addition to drivers supporting the regional championships, there will be many local drivers taking to the tarmac having spent the winter months optimising the performance of their cars ready for the new season.
Wiscombe Park provides a great motor-sporting day out with admission only £8.00 and accompanied children under 14 years of age admitted free. The scenic surroundings of Wiscombe Park are ideal for a picnic, although catering and a licensed bar are available.

There are no additional charges to access the competitors’ paddock so spectators can inspect the cars at close quarters and talk to the drivers.
