60-year-old man dies following three car collision on the A35 at Raymond’s Hill

A 60-year-old man has died following a three vehicle collision near Axminster.

Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward following the crash, at Raymond’s Hill.

Officers were called at around 7.10pm on Friday, June 7, to the collision involving three cars on the westbound carriageway of the A35, near the junction with the B3165.

Dorset Police attended along with officers from Devon and Cornwall.

A 58-year-old woman from Axminster who was driving a red Ford Mondeo was taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital with neck injuries, but later released.

A 67-year-old man, from Bournemouth, who was driving a silver Mercedes E220, accompanied by his wife, was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The third driver, a 60-year-old Plymouth man who was in a blue Jaguar X-Type,

was admitted to Derriford Hospital three days after the incident and sadly died on Wednesday, June 19.

Sergeant Jonathan Wren, of Dorset Police Traffic Department, said: “This road traffic collision involved three vehicles and, tragically, one of the drivers involved in the collision died later in hospital.

“I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or may have information about the manner of driving of the vehicles involved prior to the collision, to contact Dorset Police in confidence on 101.”

No arrests have been made.
