Woman and child involved in head-on collision near Yarcombe

Police were called at 3.40pm this afternoon (Thursday, April 7) following the incident, which took place on the A303.

A woman and child have been involved in a head-on collision near Yarcombe.

Police were called at 3.40pm this afternoon (Thursday, April 7) following the incident, which took place on the A303 near the village.

The cars involved were a VW Bora 4x4 and a Subaru Forester.

Police officers and paramedics attended the scene.

A spokeswoman for Devon and Cornwall Police said the collision happened just past Peacroft Farm, which is less than a mile away from Newcott, Upottery.

They added that the woman and child were in one of the vehicles, while another driver was in another.

A spokeswoman for South Western Ambulance Service said there does not appear to be any injuries and paramedics checked over the people involved.

BBC Travel SouthWest is reporting on Twitter that the B3170 is partially blocked near the A30 and that there is debris on the road.

Stagecoach SouthWestt also tweeted that the 52B bus is terminating at Sidford.

A shuttle bus is operating between Sidmouth and Honiton via Ottery St Mary.
