HONITON Town Council is to form a working party to move forward its draft design statement. The document, originally put together in 2004, has been gathering dust after failing to be adopted by East Devon District Council - because it did not adequately address the issue of how new-build developments can help Honiton retain its character.Considered a blueprint for Honiton's future, the design statement was "inadvertently overlooked" following the Market and Coastal Town Initiative, councillors heard last week. Now the district council wants the document finished, so that it can be formally adopted.
