CELEBRITY-autographed teddy bears will be among the prizes as Uplyme Village Hall plays host to a fundraising ball and auction on Saturday, February 16.The Valentine's Day-themed 'black-tie with a twist of pink' ball is being held in aid of Force, a cancer support charity dedicated to West Country patients and their families.Jess Chapple from Axminster, co-organiser of the event with Caryn Gardner from Uplyme, said: "Cancer has hit my family quite hard in the last three years and it's close to a lot of people's hearts. "We wanted to do something for people who aren't so lucky and have lost family."Owner of the Alice Bear shop in Lyme Regis Rikey Austin has designed a 'Jilly Bear' in honour of her own mother's strength during her battle with cancer and, through local photographer Lynnette Ravenscroft, sent the stuffed toy to the British Comedy Awards in London to be autographed by celebrities for the auction.Awards presenter Jonathan Ross, comedians Alan Carr and Graham Norton, fashion icon Twiggy and legendary actress Faye Dunaway were among the celebrities who signed Jilly Bear.Also up for grabs at the auction will be a handmade bodice from Lyme Regis dressmaker Ladeda, River Cottage goodies and a pamper day at Reflections hair salon.Tickets for the event cost £20 from Reflections in Axminster, the Talbot Arms in Uplyme or by calling (01297) 443136.
