Plans revealed for 2014 Sausage and Cider Festival.

The Wurzels will be headlining a new festival being held in Honiton next year to celebrate the life-saving work done by Devon Freewheelers.

The Sausage and Cider Festival is being put together by the Honiton Foundation, including the Mayor of Honiton, Councillor David Foster.

It will take place on Saturday, May 3, 2014, and is in aid of the Honiton-based charity.

Confirmed musical acts so far include Sweet Black Angels, The Peaceful Hooligan, and Diamondogz.

“It will be a family-friendly event with attractions for young people and teenagers,” says Mr Foster.

The event has already attracted an increasing following, including festival-goers from further afield with buses of visitors coming from Bath and Wales.

To launch the event organisers are hosting an open afternoon from noon on Friday (September 13) at the Durham Way headquarters of the Devon Freewheelers, which also coincides with the launch of the festival’s website.

Anyone interested in sponsoring the event or getting involved is urged to come along.

The festival is being held in fields opposite the old show ground. There will be a field for camping over the weekend.

“It should be a fantastic day out,” adds Mr Foster. “This is a great thing for Honiton. I have felt that the town should be doing events like this for such a long time. We have got local bands, local food, and local drink. We will be showing off what we do in Honiton.”

l Tickets for the festival will be available online and cost £5 for adults in advance or £10 on the day. Under 16s go free.
