Hundreds of ducks slalomed down the River Otter as part of an event which raised £2,700 for good causes.

The duck race, put on Honiton and District Lions, was rescheduled to the middle of the week after the original weekend date faced inclement weather.

David Rickard, Honiton Lion, said: “Bearing in mind that the duck race had to be postponed on August 12 and held again four days later, the event was a financial success.

“We would have held stalls on the original date - but we lost them at the rescheduled event which is why the total raised is down a little bit.

“However, the result was still excellent.

“We would like to thank members of the public for their support and two Lions - Steve Guilbert and Brian Richards - for their efforts and staging the race, which they have done for the last 20 years.”

The proceeds will be shared between Honiton’s Admiral Nurse appeal and local youth causes.
