A KILMINGTON man is convinced a thief is not responsible for a series of fish disappearances from ponds.Dozens of fish have vanished from garden ponds across the Axe Valley in recent weeks.Alan France, who has had a pond for 12 years, said: "Out of 40 fish, I'm down to my last six."More than 30 have gone missing, but I'm certain a thief is not to blame."Some of the missing fish were last year's young and they are hard to catch. My two biggest fish are still in the pond."Mr France is wondering if a mink may be to blame."If it was a heron taking the fish, it would knock things like plant pots over, because they are clumsy," he said."I'm guessing it's a mink.
