A Feniton youngster has successfully secured her Booktrack Gold award after reading 100 books.

Romana Lane was presented with her certificate by staff at Honiton Library.

Linda Isaacson, the library’s supervisor, said Romana was a ‘lovely girl’, adding: “Her and her sister were both doing the Booktrack and I think Romana beat her sister, so she will be pleased.

“Her reading has improved a lot throughout this challenge. She started the task in January 2016 so it has taken her 18 months to finish the challenge, which is quite impressive.

“She was a lovely girl and it is refreshing to see youngsters still enamoured with the idea of picking up a book and reading.”

The Booktrack scheme is open to children aged six and above. Those who do take part in the scheme will have to speak to a member of library staff about the books they have read.
