Young Peter was handpicked by Arsenal Football Club for special event.

A young Honiton footballer was given the honour of leading out the Arsenal team at two of their games in the Emirates Cup, the club’s pre-season competition.

Peter Osborne, pictured, aged eight, of Chestnut Way, led the players out at the Emirates Stadium in matches against Portuguese side FC Porto and Galatasaray S.K of Turkey.

He was given the opportunity after winning a Young Gunners competition on the Arsenal youth squad website.

“It was amazing” said Peter, who plays for the Honiton Town Youth FC’s Under 9s team.

“I was really nervous before I went on to the pitch, but when I did it, it was awesome.”

Peter, who is a die-hard Arsenal fan, was also selected by Arsenal Soccer School to join them at its Exeter base after he impressed when playing in front of their managers.

He, along with a few other team mates, was picked from the players when Arsenal hosted a fun day at the Exeter Arena.

After playing in a mini-match and undergoing a series of dribbling and football control exercises, Peter was chosen to join the school where he will continue to hone his skills.
