Police presence stepped up near local schools

A young student was assaulted by an unknown individual at 8.40am this morning (Tuesday, October 21) near Axminster Fire Station.

A spokesman for the Axe Valley Community College said the police were investigating and would have an additional presence in the area after school in the coming days.

In the meantime they issued the fowling advice:

* Stay Calm

* Stay in groups when walking home

* Keep to main roads and avoid isolated pathways

They added: “We understand that some parents of students who normally walk home may wish to collect their child.
