Halfway through the season in the Joma Devon & Exeter League Premier Division, and Lyme Regis are a side seeking the momentum that should bring a push into the top half of the table.
The campaign opened with a testing trip to Lapford, who set out their early intentions with a 3-1 victory. Daniel Rendell was on target for Lyme Regis and no shame in a loss to Lapford, who remain unbeaten from 14 games this term.
The Seasiders got their season up and running with a 2-0 win over Dawlish United, Callum Garrett and Bradley Rowe scoring the goals, but progress was less forthcoming on the road, as Lyme Regis went down to an entertaining 4-3 defeat at Throverton.
The reverse fixture with Lapford arrived in mid-September and the faithful at Davey Fort were treated to a six-goal thriller, one of only two times the leaders have failed to win in the league this term. Mark Bailey, Harvey Brimicombe and Fred Parsons scored for the Seasiders in a 3-3 draw.
Rowe then bagged a brace in a 4-0 trouncing of Dawlish United and prospects for a genuine title push were looking rosy.
The University of Exeter 2nds were next to visit and, once again, it was a brilliant game to watch. Parsons came off the bench to score twice and there was another goal for Rowe in the 3-3 stalemate.
Garret, Rowe, Rikki Sargent and Joe Bond were the scorers in an enthralling 4-3 win over Elmore 2nds at Davey Fort, but that was followed by a morale-sapping 4-1 loss at home to Throverton.
It was a defeat that set the Seasiders on a frustrating run of three straight defeats, although they did get back on the winning wagon with a 5-1 demolition of Sidmouth Town 2nds, Wallace Blackmore scoring a brace on this occasion.
Lyme Regis entered the Christmas break with a 2-2 draw at home to Colyton and, weather permitting, this weekend brings a testing trip to third-placed Beer Albion, but if they get it right, the Seasiders are a match for any side on their day.
