On New Year’s Eve, several Honiton Running Club members took part in the Running Events Bell Challenge. There were several distances on offer and runners could even choose to run continuously for seven hours!
Despite injury, Kevin Hawker did brilliantly to run 20 miles and Jennie Sleeman celebrated completing her 50th half marathon. Olivia Killen ran her 53rd half marathon, and then went on to complete numbers 54 and 55, all over the bank holiday weekend.
If you have been inspired by these efforts and are thinking of trying out running, HRC is running a beginners’ eight-week course. This will be a tried and tested training plan and, once finished, participants should be able to run 5k.
These are held on Monday evenings at 6.30pm from the carpark in Silver Street, Honiton. Qualified run leaders will help inspire people to achieve their goals. No previous running experience is necessary. For more information, please contact Paula at postiveenerje@gmail.com
