Seaton ladies are through to the national finals of the Ladies’ Over-55 fours, to be played at Leamington Spa in August, writes Alan Nicholas.
The ladies first played the county semi-final at Paignton where the team of Maria Johnson, Marian Vessey, Pat Whitworth and Di Morley won 35-7 against the ladies of Oreston.
That set up a final berth and a match against Crediton.
The contest took place in the afternoon and was a thriller that was ‘touch-and-go’ throughout, but ended well for the Seaton ladies as they secured a 19 shots to 18 victory.
It all means they are crowned the Devon champions and go forward to those coveted National Finals at Leamington Spa representing the county of Devon – as well as a very proud Seaton Bowls Club.
