Honiton Running Club members didn’t have to travel too far for last Sunday’s race, writes Judy Davey.

It was the Dalwood Fayre 10k multi-terrain. The weather started off a little muggy, but about halfway around the course it began to rain lightly before the heavens opened and heavy rain ensued.

This wasn’t too unpleasant for runners as they had all warmed up and the cooling rain was a relief.

However, it did mean that the runners had to take a bit more care over some of the potentially slippery areas.

Axe Valley Runners took the first 3 places led home by Jake Smith who won in 37 minutes 11 seconds creating a new course record.

HRCs first runner home was Ben Stone who was in fine form to come fourth overall in a time of 44:33.

Rod Inglis came ninth in 48:56 and Mark Newson finished 11th in 50:17. Steve Davey and Richard Harris had their usual battle with Steve finishing 12th in 50:28 and Richard one place and five seconds later.

Jo Davey led the HRC ladies home, finishing as second lady and 15th in a time of 53:06.

Her mum, Judy, was third lady in 55:00 and 18th place with Pippa Westall just one place later and fourth lady home in 55:30.

Shane Hudd completed the line-up coming a very respectable 22nd in 58:37. There were 39 finishers.
