Whimple bagged their first win of the Tolchards Devon League C Division season when they comprehensively brushed aside the challenge of hosts Braunton.
The North Devon side batted first and were restricted to just 181-7 thanks, in the main, to a fine spell of bowling from Matt Richards who ended with four wickets for 38 runs from his full shift of nine overs. There other bowlers each claimed a single wicket: Matt Brown (1-22 in 9), Nathan Kidd (1-32 in 7) and Leigh Lorenzen (1-38 in 9). If the home side had laboured with the bat, Whimple did anything but and even overcame the early loss of Dave Culshaw for nine to sprint to a nine wicket win with 11.4 overs remaining!
It was Leigh Lorenzen who took the batting honours, striking his way to an unbeaten 109 and, at the other end of the wicket, Nathan Kidd finished unbeaten on 43 as Whimple secured a quick-fire success.
On Saturday (May 20), Whimple will look to make it back-to-back wins when they host an Uplyme side that has lot both of their opening matches in the league this season.
