As the season draws to a close, the fixtures revert to friendly matches against neighbours and tourists, writes Roger Smith.

The mixed team had an incredibly narrow defeat against visitors Chudleigh losing by 54-55, despite incurring a 25 per cent penalty on one rink, due to one player having to retire from the match through ill health.

The winning rinks were D Bowden, F Jones and R North (15-11) and J Wheatley, D Downs, G Phillips and R Clarke (12-11).

This was followed by another close match against visiting Pear Park losing by 84-91. The winning rinks were D Faulks, D Bowden and A Kury (27-10), B Bowden, A Pritchard and D Conbeer (20-11) and S Faulks, D Downs and G Phillips (21-18).

Next a visit to Chardstock resulted in a win by 72-50. The winning rinks were F Jones, S Kury and I Veitch (23-8) and D Bowden, G Phillips and D Coyne (20-12).

The last match of the week was against tourists Shaftesbury which resulted in a convincing win for Feniton by 140-100. The winning rinks were D Downs, D Sanders, Ru Clarke and R Smith (36-4), D Bowden, R Lovering, D Conbeer and D Coyne (26-12) and A Coyne, R Crowe-Swords, L Ley and Ro Clarke (22-16).

In last weeks report we did Alan Smith a huge disservice when we suggested he had lost in the final of the Feniton Club men’s singles championship. That was not the case! Alan (as we got correct in the meat of the article) won the final scoring a splendid 22 shots top defeat runner-up Don Coyne.
