The Axe Cliff ladies section entered 10 pairs for the North and East Devon Foursomes competition at Tiverton which, was one of the largest contingents compared to some of the larger clubs in the area, writes Pete Motson.

The winning score was 36 points and Sandra Walker and Barbara Cummings from Axe Cliff scored 34 points to take sixth place from the 78 pairs that took part, an excellent performance.

The Express and Echo Foursomes qualifying round was won by Margaret Kenchington and Pauline Willis with 36 points.

The minor places were determined by countback with Sandra Walker and Jo Donmall getting the nod over Jill Wellington and Caroline Bond after both sets of players scored 29 points.

Helen Kenworthy and Margaret Kenchington played their next round of the County Vets Inter Club four-ball better ball KO match on the Downes, Crediton course.

The opposition was provided by Wrangaton Golf Club and it proved to be a close contest. However, Helen and Margaret took the tie on the 16th hole. Congratulations and well done, Helen and Margaret.

One other item from last week at Axe Cliff is that Pauline Willis and Janet Dack won the qualifying round to represent Axe Cliff in the Warren Crocus Greensomes competition which will be held in September.
