The weather once again played its part in the latest round of Honiton Netball League matches with two second division games having to be called off due to heavy rain, writes Graham Ingram.

Hi Q moved back to the top of the Division One table thanks to their win over Tip Top Trees. The first quarter was close with Hi Q edging 11-7 ahead, a lead they had doubled by half way to 18-10. With Lisa Cull playing well Hi Q began to increase their advantage and going into the final quarter were 29-16 in front despite fine play from Tara Drew for 3Ts.

The final period was dominated by Hi Q who ran out winners by 42-17. With Flamingos without a game this week Otters moved back into second place in the top division after a hard fought win over Signs South West. At quarter time Otters were 8-6 up, but by half way SSW, with Holly Loader playing well, had a 16-15 lead. In the third period Tracy Moran got Otters flowing and they went into the final period with a 27-19 win and held on to win by 35-27.

In Division Two Ford & Pentecost Panthers continued on their winning ways with their eighth straight win to maintain their 100 per cent record thanks to a comfortable win over bottom side Beer Blazers. With Anna Benson in fine form the panthers were always in control and although Helen French worked hard for Beer they could not threaten Panthers who finished victors by 24-6.

The other game was between the sides fourth and fifth in the table, Sidmouth Toucans and Blackdown Ladies. Toucans got off to the better start to lead 4-1 at quarter time and with Louise Neilson playing well they were 8-5 up at half way.

In the third period Emily Jaworski helped the Ladies close the gap and going into the final period the Toucans were 10-9 in front.

They held their nerve and held off the Blackdown revival to win by 17-13 and move into third place.
