Honiton Town Reserves went down 6-4 at Halwill in a Fresha League Division Five meeting.
Tim Genders continued his return to full match fitness with a sparkling shift that included two goals and the other Town scorers were Louis Grant and Mike Wheeler.
Town Reserve team boss John Lewis said: “We were the creators of our own downfall! Poor defending cost us and I mean our defending as a team not just the back four. The team spirit can never be questioned, but we have to be stronger if we really want promotion again. We do have the chance to bounce back with the biggest game of our season against Sandford this weekend. I trust we will see then just how much the players want it.”
