Honiton Under-11 Demons were beaten 5-1 at Crediton in their latest Exeter and District Youth League outing.

Demons began well, taking the game to the hosts with Jake Mabbutt, Corey Skinner and Ross Hurford combining well and creating several chances for Connor Richards to test the Crediton Keeper.

The defence of Adam Dunford, Harry Horn, Ben Borkowski and Brendan Wright applied what had been worked on in midweek training and working together as one unit kept the opposition at bay with some great tackles and good communication to catch the Crediton forwards offside numerous times.

Crediton broke the deadlock after a goalmouth scramble, but the Demons were not downhearted and attacked straight from the restart. After good link up play between Corey and Connor, the later was fouled just outside the box. Connor picked himself up and rifled an unstoppable shot into the top corner of the goal. Crediton scored their second goal following a long ball over the top and the Crediton forward beat the Honiton defence to the ball and neatly tucked it in the corner for a 2-1 half time lead. At half time changes were made to the formation and Honiton started off the more aggressive with James Pring and Connor Richards bringing the best out of the Crediton keeper. Kian Wright and Bailey Williams made progress down the wing with good passing to create another chance for Connor, this time just past the post with the keeper well beaten. When Crediton did break through they found Josh Edwards in great form and he pulled off several brave saves at the feet of the Crediton forward

Crediton scored two further goals in the second half, one being an own goal, rounding things off for a 4-1 home win.

The Demons Man of the Match award was chosen by the Crediton manager and he opted for Connor Richards for that superb free-kick and his all-round work rate on the wing.

This weekend the Demons are in cup action when they entertain Moors Youth.
