Honiton made a horrible start to their life as a D Division outfit when they were well beaten at Yelverton.
The South Devon side batted first and closed on 217-9 with Richard Hill (3-15), Adam Holmes (3-82) and Phil Tansley (2-32) shared the wicket taking duties.
Ollie Cave then led the run chase with a superb 54 and there were supporting knocks from Holmes (40) and an unbeaten 39 from Andrew Lapping but the final wicket of the reply went down with the score on 72 to consign Honiton to a 45 run defeat.
On Saturday Honiton host Whimple who saw no action on match day one at either 1st or 2nd XI levels.
