SPIRITS are high at Farway FC as they banished memories of last year's horror season with a 4-0 win over Thorncombe in Division One.
Players were so thick on the ground that new manager Paul Merchant didn't even get on the pitch - and he had been one of the team's stars last term.
But assistant manager Andy Baily has warned against complacency, however, saying: "To win enough games to challenge in this league will be tough. The players must guard against being caught out."
Goals were scored by Ben Williams, 2, Dan Williams and Bradley King - King's wouldn't have looked out of place on Match of the Day, a wonderful 16 yard volley off an Andrew Dimond cross.
Lyme Regis 1st XI also have a changearound - Robin Townsend, who assisted Rob Thom last year, takes over in charge.
Townsend was disappointed with the side's 2-1 defeat at the hands of Misterton, Lyme having taken the lead through a Malcolm Darby penalty and had plenty of further chances to score.
Dave Robinson was the only player to emerge with credit and Townsend expects much better nest week against Combe.
Lyme Regis Reserves beat Chard Rangers 6-2, while the Bantams planned match against Misterton Reserves was postponed.
Millwey Rise got their season off to a winning start with a 5-1 win over Beaminster Res while the Reserves lost 3-0 to Luso Chard.
Uplyme started their season well with a 3-2 win over Drimpton in Division Two. It was a good result with a bit of a mix and match side, as Uplyme forced their way back into it from 2-0 down.
At 3-2 Drimpton could have stolen the points but the Uplyme keeper made a good save. Goals were scored by James Beddowes, John Matthews and Adam Neal.
