It was all smiles at Allhallows, as Honiton RFC secured 43-29 victory over Barnstaple 2nds in a fabulous game of rugby.
Debutant Ben Phillips fed Phil Bennett for the opening score and, after Barum levelled, Ben Spence restored the lead with a converted try. Johnny House extended the lead for the Ton before Barnstaple made it 17-10 at the break.
The visitors scored twice in the opening exchanges of the second period to lead for the first time but Josh Rice broke through the tackles to dot down, with a Sam Steel conversion making the score 24-24.
Ben Kidson finished in style and Steel added the extra points to edge the Ton back in front before Spence dived over for the next try in a thrilling match. Barnstaple reduced the arrears to 36-29 but Honiton had the final word, Rice forcing a turnover for House to grab his second try.
