Honiton Golf Club Seniors welcomed Vivary Park Golf Club with redemption on their mind after going down 6-0 in the away fixture.
Whilst they were unable to entirely reverse the result, a 4.5 to 1.5 win did much to restore some pride, with several superb performances providing wins by large margins.
On Friday, they played a ‘4 clubs and a putter’ competition and a significant number of players showed it is possible to play good golf without a full set of clubs in the bag, despite the rain and wind.
Winning Division 2 with 38 points was George Smith, who regularly features in the winners’ enclosure, beating Steve Blundell on 37 and Bill Phillips on 36. Division 1 saw Bill Eaton taking the honours with 37 points, followed closely by John Jackson on 36 and Paul Ritchie on 34. Bill’s win was achieved despite coming in with trousers that reflected the weather conditions.
