Honiton Town bowed out of the Walter C Parson Cup after local rivals Sidmouth Town came from behind to secure a tense 2-1 victory.
The Hippos more than matched their hosts in the first period and edged in front when a Lewis Couch cross looped over the Sidmouth goalkeeper, with the visitors holding that slender advantage until the half-time break.
The second period was packed with all the intensity and fire you would expect from an East Devon derby. The Sidmouth Vikings drew level just before the hour, Danny Pym slipping a quick free-kick into the path of Jamie Chamberlain, who smashed home an emphatic rising drive.
Honiton remained well in the game until seven minutes from time, when a long-range rocket from Jamie Fanson won it for Sidmouth. Honiton host Torridgeside on the weekend, while Axminster, who faced Cullompton in midweek, make the trip to Sidmouth.
